Having only lived in London in the late fall and winter, I experienced the flip side of this: it got dark by around 4, which, especially considering that I worked indoors, away from windows, all day, was extremely depressing. I specifically remember consoling myself in a rather conceptual fashion by thinking of how glorious the summer nights must be.
